ARMY AQUATICS

Formerly known as the Army Swimming Association and the Army Swimming Union (ASU) the Army Aquatics Union (AAU) was formed in 1920 to manage the Army as a whole, Regular and Reserve, for all aquatic sporting activities.

The following disciplines that the ASU represent are:
– Diving (Since 1920)
– Open Water Swimming (Since 1923)
– Pool Swimming (Since 1920)
– Water Polo (Since 1920)

Proud of all the amazing achievements from Army Aquatics, such as the Army Ladies Swimming team who won the UK Armed Forces Sports Team of the year in 2017, the AAU competes in all disciplines and has recently supported swimmers in the World Masters Games Auckland New Zealand 2017 and the European Masters Games Turin 2019, where the Army Swimming Masters were recognised for being the most successful Army Sport.

2016 Inter Services 5km Open Water Swimming race took place in the sea at Boscombe near Bournmouth in Hampshire. The team event consists of the first 3 swimmers times from each service added together to give the overall champion. The RAF had the first swimmer across the line but the Army where crowned champions. The 2016 Army and Inter Corp Championship took place on a shortened 1.5km course in the same venue seeing the RMAS lifted the trophy.
